HOWDY FRIENDS!

You can call me Jess! I’m a Mississippi-born artist whose work is inspired by women, nature, travel, and the places that make me happy. After college, I married my college sweetheart, Trent, and we moved to Memphis, Tennessee. It was there that I took a leap of faith and began creating and selling artwork—and, for the first time, started calling myself an artist.

My art has taken a few beautiful turns since then. In those early days, I painted on driftwood I collected from the Mississippi River. My husband jokingly called it “washed up art,” which became the inspiration for my original name, JJWashedUpArt. That little beginning eventually grew into a much bigger love for painting and creating.

A few years later, our love of the outdoors led us to Hawai‘i, where the ocean, tropical landscapes, and slower pace of island life became a constant source of inspiration. Today, I’m back in Mississippi, bringing pieces of both places with me. The color, light, water, and sense of place I found in Hawai‘i continue to influence my work, while my Mississippi roots remain an important part of who I am as an artist.

I work primarily in acrylic and am best known for colorful paintings of florals, women, coastal landscapes, and the places and moments that inspire me. Whether I’m painting a familiar landscape, a woman surrounded by flowers, or a scene inspired by somewhere I’ve traveled, my hope is that the work creates a feeling of joy.

Ultimately, I believe joy, beauty, and creativity point back to the One who created them. My work is my way of celebrating those gifts and inviting others to slow down, notice beauty, and experience a little more joy.

When I’m not painting, you can usually find me outside, soaking up the sun, exploring somewhere new, spending time with family, or enjoying a good cup of coffee. Thanks for stopping by—I’m glad you’re here.
